92. Have/ get/ give the goods on someone: something potentially damaging or embarrassing about someone [nắm được tẩy của ai; có chứng cớ về hành động gì của ai.]

Ex: John beat me unfairly in tennis, but I'll get even. I'll get the goods on him and his cheating.

(Trong quần vợt John chơi xỏ tôi, nhưng tôi sẽ trả đũa. Tôi sẽ nắm tẩy gian lận của anh ta)

+ Be/ get even (with someone) (informal): to cause someone the same amount of trouble or harm as they have caused you [Trả đũa, trả thù]

93. Goof off (slang): a person who avoids work or responsibility [trốn việc; lảng tránh công việc.]

Ex: She spent most of the school day goofing off with her friends.

94. Through the grapevine: by talking in an informal way to other people [qua tin đồn; qua lời đồn; qua thông tin không chính thức.]

Ex:

Jill: My job is so tedious. I wish I had my own business, like Beatrice does.

96. Use albow grease (informal): the effort used in physical work, especially in cleaning or polishing something [Nỗ lực cao độ; dùng mối quen biết.]

Ex: Using the right tool can save a lot of elbow grease.

97. Get the green light: permission for a project, etc. to start or continue [bật đèn xanh; xin phép; cho phép bắt đầu làm việc gì.] - synonym go-ahead

Ex: The government has decided to give the green light to the plan.

98. Grin and beer it: (only used as an infinitive and in orders) to accept pain, disappointment, or a difficult situation without complaining [cắn răng chịu đựng; chấp nhận khó khăn đau khổ không kêu than.

Ex: There's nothing we can do about it. We'll just have to grin and bear it.

101. Kick the habit: (informal) a strong need to keep using drugs, alcohol, or cigarettes regularly [từ bỏ một thói quen.]

Ex: She's tried to give up smoking but just can't kick the habit.

102. Get in somebody's hair (informal) to annoy someone by always being near them, asking them questions, etc. [là gánh nặng đối với ai; quấy rầy ai bằng cách xuất hiện liên tục.]

105. A half-wit (informal): a stupid person [kẻ ngu ngốc hoặc ngớ ngẩn; kẻ dở hơi.] - synonym idiot.

106. Bite the hand that feeds one: to harm someone who has helped you or supported you [vong ân, bội bạc; ăn cháo đá bát; phản bội lại người đã cưu mang mình.]

Ex: He may be very intelligent, but he would bite the hand that feeds him. He's so thankless.
